Obverse description A vignette of a victory gate (pailou) set within a landscape appears at left, with the large denomination numeral panel in the centre framed by an ornate guilloche cartouche. A portrait of Sun Yat-Sen in military uniform occupies the right field within a circular frame. Serial numbers appear in the upper corners, and red seal impressions are positioned at lower left and lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by an elaborate central cartouche enclosing the denomination in Chinese characters and Arabic numerals, surrounded by dense guilloche scrollwork and foliate ornamental borders. Two vertical signature panels appear at the left and right margins, each with Chinese characters denoting the signatories' titles. The denomination "500" is repeated in each corner.
