| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of Chiang Kai-shek at left, rendered in red-brown on an intricate multicolour guilloche underprint of floral and geometric motifs occupying the central and right fields. The denomination 伍佰圓 is set in large Chinese characters within an ornate medallion at centre, flanked by the issuer name 臺灣銀行 below and the authority inscription 中華民國 above. The note is framed by an elaborate engraved border incorporating plum blossom and foliate scrollwork, with the numeral 500 and Chinese denomination characters repeated in the lower corners, and the printer's imprint 中央印製廠 at the bottom centre. |
