The Bank of Inner Mongolia was established in 1945 under the Mongolian Autonomous Government, which had Soviet and Mongolian People's Republic backing in the immediate aftermath of Japanese defeat. This note, dated Republic Year 36 — that is, 1947 — belongs to the bank's earliest substantive emission, issued as the autonomous region was consolidating political and economic separation from both Nationalist China and any residual Japanese administrative infrastructure.
The dual denomination labeling in Chinese and Mongolian script reflects a deliberate bilingual policy, not a printing accident. By 1949 the currency was superseded by People's Bank issues as Inner Mongolia was absorbed into the PRC structure.
