Obverse description The central field depicts a detailed frontal view of Tokyo Station (Marunouchi building), rendered in fine relief with its characteristic red-brick Meiji-era facade, ornate central dome, flanking pavilions, and decorative landscaping in the foreground. The denomination legend 五百円 (500 yen) is distributed around the lower periphery of the coin, with the characters 日本国 (State of Japan) arranged around the upper border within the nickel brass ring. The Latin inscription TOKYO and the Japanese characters 東京都 appear below the central building motif. A continuous beaded border frames both the inner copper-nickel centre and the outer ring.
