Reverse description The large numeral '500' is prominently displayed in the center of the field, flanked on either side by sprigs of Tachibana orange (Citrus tachibana) rendered with detailed fruit and foliage. A spray of bamboo occupies the upper portion of the design, its characteristic jointed stems and narrow leaves arching gracefully above the numeral. The reign-era date in Japanese characters appears along the lower field below the central numeral. The design is framed by a beaded inner border.
