Additional information

Mongolia's wild horse coinage from this period was produced largely for the collector export market, with distribution handled through European numismatic agencies rather than domestic channels. The Przewalski's horse, native to the Mongolian steppe, had been declared extinct in the wild by the 1960s before a coordinated reintroduction program — drawing animals from zoo populations worldwide — began returning small herds to Hustai National Park from 1992 onward.
