Reverse description The antique-finished field depicts a highly detailed, rose gold-plated skeletal fossil of a Pterosauria rendered in high relief against a textured stone matrix background, evoking the appearance of an excavated fossil specimen. The elongated toothed skull extends toward the left, while the ribcage, limb bones, and wing structure are articulated across the field. The legend 'PTEROSAURIA' arcs along the upper portion of the field, with 'CRETACEOUS PERIOD' inscribed vertically along the right border. The series title 'EVOLUTION of Life' appears in the lower field, accompanied by the date '2018' below.

Additional information

Mongolia has issued a long-running series of prehistoric creature coins aimed squarely at the natural history collector market, and this pterosaur entry falls firmly within that commercial program. The Mongolian Gobi Desert is genuinely one of the world's premier sites for pterosaur fossil discoveries, which gives the subject matter at least some geographic legitimacy beyond pure novelty.

Rose gold plating on .999 silver was a deliberate production choice to differentiate this piece from earlier releases in the series finished in standard yellow-gold plate.
