| Reverse description | The reverse displays a finely detailed depiction of a dog in the central field, symbolizing the Year of the Dog in the Eastern calendar cycle, accompanied by the logo of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Surrounding the central motif, the broad frosted border bears the date '2018' and trilingual inscriptions: 'ШЫҒЫС КҮНТІЗБЕСI' in Kazakh, 'ВОСТОЧНЫЙ КАЛЕНДАРЬ' in Russian, and 'ORIENTAL CALENDAR' in English. The interior of the matted border is further decorated with the remaining eleven symbols of the Eastern zodiac calendar, rendered in relief around the circumference. |

Part of Kazakhstan's long-running lunar series, this issue follows a production pattern the National Bank established in the early 2000s to court collector markets in East and Southeast Asia, where demand for gold lunar pieces from non-traditional mints has grown steadily. Kazakhstan's .9999 fine standard — fractionally purer than the traditional .999 used by many sovereign mints — was a deliberate positioning choice against established competitors.
