Additional information

Issued as part of Kazakhstan's early commemorative silver program, this piece belongs to a series the National Bank launched in the late 1990s and early 2000s to assert a distinct national cultural identity following independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The series drew heavily on nomadic steppe heritage — a deliberate counterpoint to decades of Soviet-era numismatic imagery that had little to do with Kazakh history.

Mintages for this series were kept low, typically in the low thousands, with much of the production absorbed by domestic collectors and gift presentation sets rather than the secondary market.
