| Obverse description | At centre, the national coat of arms of the Republic of Kazakhstan — featuring two mythical steppe eagles flanking a radiant sun above a shanyrak symbol, with the legend ҚАЗАҚСТАН on a scroll below — is set within a large circular cartouche backed by a decorative panel of traditional Kazakh embroidery motifs. Flanking the central cartouche are stylised Kazakh ornamental scrollwork elements. The denomination numeral 500 appears in large relief in the lower field, with the currency name ТЕҢГЕ inscribed along the lower rim. | Reverse description | A three-quarter length portrait of Taras Shevchenko, the celebrated Ukrainian poet and national icon, is depicted seated and turned slightly to the right, dressed in a traditional cloak and open-collar shirt, his weathered visage rendered in fine high-relief detail. To the right of the portrait, two horizontal bands of traditional Ukrainian embroidery (vyshyvanka) ornament the field, evoking Shevchenko's cultural heritage. The Cyrillic legend ТАРАС ШЕВЧЕНКО appears in bold lettering to the upper right, with the commemorative inscription 200 ЖЫЛ / РОКIВ (200 years, in Kazakh and Ukrainian respectively) below it.
