| Additional information |
Qorqyt Ata is a semi-legendary Turkic shaman and philosopher credited with inventing the kobyz, a bowed string instrument central to Kazakh musical tradition. His existence is placed roughly in the 8th–9th centuries, though his biography blurs into oral epic well before any historical record begins. The Kazakh steppe has produced a recurring series of commemorative issues honoring figures from this pre-literate cultural inheritance — Qorqyt Ata among the most frequently revisited.
KM#592 is part of Kazakhstan's long-running silver program documenting national heritage, issued through the KAZAKH MINT in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
