Obverse description The obverse features an allegorical composition celebrating the global touring activity of the Vienna Boys' Choir, depicting a panoramic collage of world landmarks in high relief against a mirror-polished field. At centre-left, the Statue of Liberty rises prominently before a stylised New York City skyline including recognisable skyscrapers; to the right, an East Asian pagoda and ornamental garden with a arched bridge and lily-padded stream evoke the choir's tours to Japan. Musical staff lines with notes are incorporated into the bridge railing as a compositional detail. The legend REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH arcs around the upper periphery in bold raised lettering, with the denomination 500 SCHILLING inscribed along the lower arc.
