Obverse description Central denomination numeral '500' appears within a circle composed of ten heraldic shields representing Austria and its nine federal states. The national legend arcs around the upper periphery of the coin, with 'SCHILLING' completing the inscription along the lower arc. The design is attributed to engraver Edwin Grienauer and executed in a clean, formal style characteristic of Austrian commemorative coinage of the period.
