Obverse description The central vignette to the right presents a stone sculpture of a caparisoned elephant at the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, rendered in intaglio with fine detail. A large guilloche rosette occupies the left field, with two manuscript signatures and the date below the central inscriptions. Denomination numerals '500' appear in each corner, framed by an ornate border of repeating geometric and floral motifs.

Reverse description The Abhayagiri Stupa at Anuradhapura dominates the central vignette, rising above a landscaped foreground with flanking shrines and a large watermark window to the upper left rendered as a circular void in the guilloche underprint. A lower panel presents a tropical bird perched among foliage, with a strip of captioned text identifying the monument beneath the stupa scene. The entire composition is enclosed within a multi-rule border with repeating elephant motifs along the upper and lower margins.
