| Additional information |
Sri Lanka's central bank was established in 1950 under the Monetary Law Act, making the 1990 issue a fortieth-anniversary commemorative. The institution was notably one of the first independent central banks in South Asia, created as Ceylon transitioned away from the currency board system that had governed monetary affairs under British administration.
KM#150 was struck to .925 fineness at the Royal Mint.
