Obverse description The obverse features the royal cypher and regnal titles of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, inscribed in Devanagari script along the upper legend. Surrounding a central circle are eight Hindu iconographic symbols arranged in cardinal positions: Chandra (Moon) at upper left, Surya (Sun) at upper right, Chakra (Discus) at mid left, Sankha (Conch) at mid right, Padma (Lotus) at lower left, and Gada (Mace) at lower right. Within the central circle, a Trishul (Trident) is prominently displayed as the focal motif. The composition reflects the traditional Nepalese royal numismatic style, combining dynastic and religious symbolism. The Bikram Sambat date 2049 appears within the legend, corresponding to 1992 in the Gregorian calendar.
