| Obverse description | Central vignette shows a bear and fox amid a landscape of trees and mountains, framed by an elaborate guilloche border. The Far Eastern Republic was a short-lived Soviet buffer state established in April 1920, designed specifically to avoid direct military confrontation between Soviet Russia and Japan over the Russian Far East. Moscow quietly controlled it while maintaining the fiction of an independent democratic republic for foreign consumption. Its paper currency was correspondingly improvised — issued rapidly under unstable conditions, with multiple note types appearing across different occupied zones.
The S1207 belongs to the 1920 Chita issue. Survival rates are uneven across the series; notes from the eastern territories saw hard use in a cash-starved regional economy before the republic was absorbed into Soviet Russia in November 1922 and its currency rendered void.
