The 271 series went through multiple signature changes as Bank of Russia governors turned over, and the "D" suffix distinguishes this 2010 signature variety from earlier printings of the same base design — a distinction that matters more to specialist collectors than the general market, where the series is often catalogued loosely. Goznak's Moscow facility had by this point integrated the full suite of domestic security features, replacing earlier reliance on imported thread and inks that characterized Soviet-era production.
High-denomination notes of this type saw heavy ATM circulation in Russia's cash-dominated retail economy and are consequently far more common in heavily worn grades than in anything approaching uncirculated.
