Obverse description Draped bust of Jayavarman VII facing slightly forward at center, rendered in the classical Khmer sculptural style. To the left of the effigy, the denomination '500 RIELS' appears in two lines within a decorative cartouche. To the right, the inscription 'Jayavarman VII / 1182 – 1201' identifies the Khmer king and his reign. The outer border is ornamented with a continuous scrollwork pattern. The curved legend 'KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA' and the date '2001' arc along the lower rim.
