Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Shah Mohammad Rezā Pahlavī in military dress uniform at right, against a multicolour guilloche underprint with floral rosette ornaments at centre. The bank title in Persian script is inscribed at top centre within a decorative panel, with the denomination rendered in Persian numerals at upper left and lower right. Two facsimile signatures of bank officials appear at centre, flanked by stylised winged creature vignettes in dark green at the upper corners.

Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of two addorsed Achaemenid winged bulls (lamassu) flanking an ornate Tree of Life column, drawn from the bas-reliefs of Persepolis, rendered in brown and ochre tones against a warm orange guilloche ground. The issuer's name "BANK MARKAZI IRAN" runs along the top margin in Roman script, with the numeral "500" at upper left and right and "500 RIALS" at lower left. Floral and geometric ornamental borders frame the composition, with a watermark window occupying the right portion of the note.
