| Obverse description | Central field features the denomination numeral '500' rendered in ornate script within an open wreath of coffee and tobacco branches, tied at the base with a decorative bow. Above the numeral, a small quatrefoil ornament flanked by horizontal bars provides a dividing motif, repeated below. The peripheral legend reads PETRUS II. D. G. CONST. IMP. ET PERP. BRAS. DEF., identifying the issuer as Emperor Pedro II of Brazil by the grace of God, Constitutional Emperor and Perpetual Defender of Brazil. The date appears prominently in the lower exergual area. The coin is struck with coin alignment and exhibits fine milled border dentilation. |
