| Obverse description | Left-facing laureate bust of the allegorical figure of the Republic, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with an olive branch, rendered in fine relief in the Art Nouveau style by engraver Georges Dupré. A ring of twenty-one five-pointed stars, without dashes between them, encircles the effigy, representing the states of Brazil. The circular legend REPUBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRAZIL runs along the upper periphery, and the date 1913 appears in the lower exergual area. The coin's dentilated border frames the entire composition. |
