Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark, is depicted as a right-facing crowned bust occupying the central field. The Queen wears the George IV State Diadem and a pearl drop earring, rendered with exceptional sculptural relief befitting the proof format. The engraver's initials 'J.C' appear below the truncation of the neck. The circumferential legend reads 'ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 500 POUNDS', interrupted at the lower field, with the denomination '500 POUNDS' positioned in the upper left arc and the royal titles distributed around the remaining periphery.
