Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in high relief after Jody Clark's fifth definitive portrait, introduced in 2015. The Queen is depicted with a drop pearl earring and necklace visible at the truncation. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 500 POUNDS, distributed around the upper and lower periphery of the field. The engraver's initials J.C. appear below the portrait truncation. The deeply mirrored proof fields provide a sharp contrast to the finely frosted relief of the effigy.
