| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera, Colombian general and statesman, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and military collar. The surrounding legend reads 'REPUBLICA DE COLOMBIA' to the left and 'TOMAS CIPRIANO DE MOSQUERA' to the right, with the mint year '1978' at the upper left and the birth and death dates '1798-1878' along the lower arc. The portrait is executed in a naturalistic neoclassical style with a deeply mirrored proof field enhancing the sculptural quality of the effigy. |
