Obverse description The Bolivian national coat of arms is displayed prominently at center, depicting the oval shield with Cerro Rico, a llama, a breadfruit tree, and a rising sun, flanked by pairs of crossed cannons and rifles with bayonets, framed by laurel and olive branches and surmounted by the condor with outstretched wings. The commemorative dates 1825 and 1975 appear in the field to the left and right of the arms respectively. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE BOLIVIA arcs around the upper periphery, while SESQUICENTENARIO curves along the lower periphery, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Bolivian independence.
