Obverse description Blue intaglio print on a guilloche underprint. Central oval vignette bears an engraved portrait of Manuel Montt, identified by the caption "M. MONTT" below the frame, flanked by elaborate scrollwork cartouches. The denomination "QUINIENTOS PESOS / CINCUENTA CONDORES" is inscribed in a panel beneath the portrait, with two facsimile signatures — those of the Presidente and Gerente General — appearing to the left and right respectively. The bank name "BANCO CENTRAL DE CHILE" arches across the top, and the convertibility clause "CONVERTIBLES EN ORO CONFORME A LA LEY" runs along the lower border above the printer's imprint.
