| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by the intaglio-printed bank title "EL BANCO DE ESPAÑA" across the centre, above the denomination "QUINIENTAS PESETAS" in large letterpress type, all set against an intricate guilloche underprint in ochre and brown. At the upper centre, a vignette of the Francoist eagle with spread wings and a ribbon inscribed "UNA GRANDE LIBRE" serves as the state emblem, flanked by symmetrical ornamental rosettes at left and right. The place and date of issue "BURGOS, 20 DE MAYO DE 1938" appear below the denomination, with the printed titles and manuscript signatures of the Governor, Interventor, and Cashier across the lower portion. |
