| Reverse description | The upper portion of the reverse is occupied by a large detailed vignette in brown intaglio style illustrating the heroic death of 400 Pforzheim citizens led by their mayor Deimling at the Battle of Wimpfen on 6 May 1622, with mounted cavalry and foot soldiers engaged in close combat. Below the vignette, the denomination 'FÜNFHUNDERT MARK' is set in bold letterpress. The lower panel carries a redemption clause text, the place and date 'PFORZHEIM, den 6. Oktober 1922', and a manuscript signature of the Oberbürgermeister. The Pforzheim city arms appear in the upper corners of the ornate border, with the denomination '500' in cartouches at lower left and right. |
