| Obverse description | Tan-ochre tinted note with a fine guilloche underprint covering the entire field, the denomination numeral '500' printed in large outline figures at left and right margins. The heading 'LANDESHAUPTSTADT KARLSRUHE' appears in bold uppercase letterpress across the top, beneath which the word 'Gutschein' is set in a larger serif typeface. The central value text 'Fünfhundert Mark' is rendered in an ornate Gothic blackletter script. Below, a two-line redemption clause, issuance date of 21 September 1922, the issuing authority line 'Der Stadtrat:', and a manuscript signature are printed, with the serial prefix letter and number in red at lower left; the note is validated by an embossed dry seal (Trockenstempel). |
