Mollanepes was an 18th-century Turkmen poet whose ghazals and romantic epics — particularly his retelling of the Zohre-Tahyr legend — became foundational texts of Turkmen literary identity. The Central Bank issued a series of commemorative silver coins in the early 2000s honoring such cultural figures as Turkmenistan, newly independent since 1991, worked to codify a national heritage distinct from Soviet-era framing.
KM#55 falls within that deliberate program of cultural canonization through coinage.
