Reverse description The reverse is printed in rose and purple tones with an ornamental guilloche border. The central field is occupied by a lengthy text block setting out the conditions of the 1993 State Internal Prize Bond issue ('AZƏRBAYCAN RESPUBLİKASININ 1993-CÜ İL DÖVLƏT DAXİLİ UDUŞLU İSTİQRAZININ ŞƏRTLƏRI'), accompanied by a prize redemption table at the right. The denomination '500' appears in a circular vignette at the top centre, and the legend 'BEŞ YÜZ MANAT' is repeated in large letters along the lower margin.

Azerbaijan's first post-Soviet banknote series was issued under extraordinary pressure — the country had declared independence in 1991 but was simultaneously fighting the Nagorno-Karabakh war, running a collapsing economy still partly dependent on Russian ruble transfers, and building monetary institutions from scratch. The 500 Manat was among the higher denominations needed almost immediately as inflation eroded the lower values into irrelevance within months of issue.

The P#13B suffix distinguishes a signature variety, a detail that matters more than it might appear: cabinet and central bank leadership turned over repeatedly during this period, and signature changes on these early notes map fairly directly onto political turbulence.
