| Obverse description | The aluminium-bronze centre features a depiction of the Three Towers of San Marino (Guaita, Cesta, and Montale) atop Monte Titano, each surmounted by its characteristic ostrich-feather finial, rendered in fine relief. The stainless steel ring bears the legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO along the upper arc and SAN MARINO along the lower arc, flanked by stylised foliate sprigs — an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right. The engraver's signature U. PERNAZZA appears in the lower field of the centre. The overall design reflects the classically composed heraldic style characteristic of late San Marinese Lira coinage. |

| Reverse description | The aluminium-bronze centre presents an allegorical composition symbolising love and nature: two hands are depicted tenderly holding a flowering plant and a wheat ear, evoking themes of nurture and affection, all rendered in delicate high relief. Additional floral and foliate elements fill the field, creating a harmonious botanical tableau. The denomination LIRE 500 is inscribed within the centre, with LIRE appearing in the lower portion of the inner disc. In the outer stainless steel ring, the denomination 500 is rendered in large stylised numerals along the lower arc, interspersed with decorative vine motifs, while the date 2001 and the commemorative inscription 700 d.F.R. (referring to the 700th anniversary of the founding of the Republic's freedom) appear to the right, with the Rome mint mark R positioned nearby. |
