Alexandru cel Bun ("Alexander the Good") ruled Moldavia from 1400 to 1432, one of the longest and most stable reigns in the principality's history — a period during which Moldavia successfully navigated pressure from both the Ottoman Empire and Poland while maintaining effective independence. This coin was issued by the Banca Națională a României as part of a commemorative series marking significant figures in Romanian historical identity, released at the turn of the millennium.
