| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of sculptor Constantin Brâncuși (1876–1957) occupies the right half of the note, rendered against an abstract multicolour guilloche underprint suggestive of stylised foliage. A large denominational numeral "500" appears at upper centre above the letterpress legend "cinci sute lei", with a central guilloche rosette medallion bearing the BNR monogram below. The issuer's title "BANCA NATIONALA A ROMANIEI" runs vertically along the left margin, accompanied by the Governor's manuscript signature. |
