| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of Ľudovít Štúr, Slovak national hero and codifier of the Slovak literary language, occupies the right half of the note against a fine guilloche underprint in olive and grey tones. The numeral 500 is printed in large intaglio figures at upper centre, with the denomination in full — PÄŤSTO SLOVENSKÝCH KORÚN — running vertically at left centre.
