Additional information

The L-39 Albatros, designed by Aero Vodochody in the late 1960s, became the standard jet trainer for Warsaw Pact air forces and remains in military service across dozens of countries today. Czechoslovakia exported the type so extensively that more L-39s were built than any other jet trainer in history — over 2,900 airframes. The Czech National Bank has issued a number of collector coins in recent years incorporating transparent acrylic or resin inserts, a production technique requiring close coordination between the mint and a specialist manufacturer to seat the element cleanly within the struck silver field.
