Obverse description Central field bears the national emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, depicting That Luang stupa flanked by paddy sheaves, a road, a forest, and a half cogwheel at the base, with a ribbon inscribed in Lao script below. The legend THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, while the denomination 500 KIP appears at the base. The weight designation 20 g is inscribed to the lower left of the emblem and the fineness Ag 999 to the lower right, all within a beaded border.
