Additional information

The Bank of Central African States issues commemorative silver under its own authority but the coins hold no real circulation role across its six member states — Cameroon, CAR, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — where the CFA franc functions as everyday currency. Röntgen's inclusion in this series is straightforward: his 1895 discovery of X-rays at the University of Würzburg earned him the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901, and his decision to refuse patents on the technology meant it spread immediately and freely through the medical world.

KM#596 is a modern bullion-adjacent commemorative with no known die varieties of collector significance.
