| Obverse description | The obverse features a bold radial sunburst field emanating from the center, against which the denomination '500' is prominently displayed in large numerals, with 'FRANCS CFA' inscribed immediately below on a horizontal band. The date '2023' appears within a recessed oval cartouche at the lower center of the field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN' runs along the upper periphery. The mint mark and fineness indicator 'mw Ag 999' are inscribed discreetly in the lower right field. |

| Reverse description | The reverse reproduces, in full color, a detail from the Symbolist painting 'The War and Us' (Wojna i my) by Polish artist Edward Okuń, created between 1917 and 1923. The composition depicts a tall, dark-cloaked male figure wearing a wide-brimmed black hat, standing alongside a pale female companion, both rendered in a dramatic, brooding palette of deep teal and ivory. Surrounding the central figures are large, fantastical butterfly wings in warm gold and brown tones, and sinuous blue serpentine or dragon forms that fill the background in an Art Nouveau-influenced style. An elderly figure crouches at the lower left, contributing to the allegorical, apocalyptic character of the scene. The artist's name 'EDWARD OKUŃ' is inscribed in white serif lettering along the lower edge of the colored design. |
