Obverse description The national coat of arms of Cameroon occupies the central field, depicting a shield bearing the letter Y surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two crossed fasces with axe heads, and supported by crossed swords at the base. The motto scrolls appear adjacent to the shield in both French and English: PAIX / PEACE to the left and PATRIE / FATHERLAND to the right, with TRAVAIL / WORK above. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper periphery, while 500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower periphery. The date 2017 appears above the arms in the upper field, and the silver fineness mark Ag 999 is visible on the scroll beneath the shield.

Reverse description A detailed color reproduction of a portion of 'The Tower of Babel,' the celebrated oil painting executed by Flemish master Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1563, dominates the entire reverse field. The composition captures the monumental, spiraling architectural structure of the tower rendered in warm ochres, browns, and grays, with minute human figures visible at its base conveying the immense scale of the edifice. The artwork is reproduced using a polychrome colorization technique applied directly to the coin's surface. The painter's name PIETER BRUGEL appears as a legend within or along the reverse field.
