| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Cameroon occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with scales of justice and a sword, surmounted by a five-pointed star, flanked by two crossed fasces with axe heads. The bilingual national motto appears on either side of the shield: PAIX / PEACE to the left and PATRIE / FATHERLAND to the right, with TRAVAIL / WORK above. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN runs along the left rim, with REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON implied within the scroll at the base of the arms. The denomination 500 FRANCS CFA is inscribed in large characters along the lower field, with the fineness mark Ag 999 appearing below the shield. The date 2017 is struck prominently above the coat of arms. |
