| Obverse description | Central field depicts a Carthaginian war elephant in full stride, carrying an armored howdah atop its back with two armed soldiers — one wielding a spear and the other bearing a shield — rendered in high relief with antique finish. A foot soldier with a lance accompanies the elephant at left. The right portion of the irregular-shaped flan features an ornate decorative panel with circular motifs in relief, set with an inlaid round carnelian gemstone at center right. The curved legend RÉPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN 2020 arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA positioned in the lower field, and the fineness mark Ag 999 inscribed vertically at the far right edge. |
