| Reverse description | The reverse presents a full-color reproduction of Albrecht Dürer's celebrated 1503 watercolor study Das große Rasenstück (The Large Piece of Turf), depicted within a square central panel. The composition faithfully renders the cluster of meadow grasses, plantain, yarrow, and dandelion observed from ground level with meticulous naturalistic detail against a warm parchment-toned ground. The border surrounding the central panel is decorated with repeating interlocked Dürer monogram motifs in relief on a matte field, lending a Renaissance decorative quality to the frame. At the top of the coin, a decorative foliate scroll cartouche set with an amber insert is inlaid at twelve o'clock. A polished ribbon legend at the base of the reverse reads ALBRECHT DÜRER in Gothic script, with the artist's life dates 1471-1528 inscribed beneath. |
