Additional information

Bronowice was a village west of Kraków that gave its name to one of the most celebrated moments in Polish cultural history: the 1900 wedding of poet Lucjan Rydel to a local peasant girl, Jadwiga Mikołajczykówna, which Stanisław Wyspiański immortalized in his drama Wesele (The Wedding). The play became a cornerstone of Young Poland modernism and a biting commentary on the intelligentsia's romanticized fixation on peasant life.

Cameroon has issued a string of these culturally themed European subjects under licensing arrangements common among small African states whose mint programs are driven entirely by the collector market — no issued franc of this denomination ever circulates in Yaoundé.
