Johanna Staude was an Austrian painter born in 1904 whose unfinished portrait — left incomplete by Gustav Klimt when he died of a stroke in February 1918 — became one of the more discussed works in the final-period Klimt literature. The coin's amber insert references the warm tonal palette Klimt had blocked in before his death. Cameroon's CFA franc issues in this collectible silver format are produced entirely for the numismatic export market, bearing no relationship to circulating currency in the country.
