Additional information

Burkina Faso has no domestic mint and contracts virtually all its commemorative coinage through European private mints — this piece almost certainly produced by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt in Munich or a comparable German facility under license. The lilac-breasted roller is native to sub-Saharan Africa but not specifically associated with Burkina Faso fauna in any particular way, which is typical of the wildlife commemorative series flooding the CFA franc zone market in the 2010s — issued primarily for collector export rather than any domestic monetary purpose.
