| Obverse description | The central field displays the Cameroonian coat of arms — a shield bearing scales of justice surmounted by a star, flanked by two rampant lions — set within a polished mirror field. The upper legend reads REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arching above the denomination 500 FRANCS CFA, while the motto PAIX / TRAVAIL / PATRIE and its English equivalent PEACE / WORK / FATHERLAND appear in two columns flanking the arms.
