| Additional information |
The BEAC issues coins for six member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — a currency union that has pegged the CFA franc to the euro since 1999, and to the French franc before that. These collector pieces are produced under license by overseas mints and have no meaningful circulation history within the member states.
The Cancer zodiac entry belongs to a broader BEAC zodiac series. Selective gilding on these issues is applied electrolytically after striking, typically confined to specific design elements to create contrast against the matte silver field.
