The BEAC issues currency on behalf of six member states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and the Republic of the Congo — all of whom share the CFA franc under a monetary agreement with France that fixes the exchange rate to the euro and requires the BEAC to deposit a portion of its foreign reserves with the French Treasury.
